Boycott Chynese. #Seriously
Shop
keeper: What do you want sir
Me: Budget mobiles.
SK:
Sir, you have this Motobola, Macromax, Nocia, samsing. Or you can have Vyvo,
appo and Redme
Me: Can I get the Redme note 9 pro
Shop
keeper: No sir. it is out of stock.
The guy next to me: Are you buying Redme phone?
Me: Yes
The guy: Do you know
it’s a Chynese company
Me: Yeah, certainly.
The guy: Don’t you
think it’s not good for our economy to encourage Chynese products.
May not be. Its assembly is done in India only though.
But our labour just
gets the money for physical work but the whole profit goes to Chyna only no?
Of course, who will invest in a business where they
wouldn’t get any profit?
But they are
intruding our market and not letting our products to rise.
Really. I don’t think so. I don’t think Redme had ever
thought that it would become the largest stakeholder in the mobile market and
smart gadgets segment for consecutive quarters every now and then. I think they
have chosen a strategy to cut down the cost of advertising which allowed them
to reduce the unit selling price markedly. Because of which they could penetrate
into the middle-class market which is the biggest platform to promote any
product.
But if you buy an
Indian made product, every penny of it goes into the pockets of fellow Indians
instead of a country who’s trying to conquer others. What do you say about
that?
I agree with the fact that every penny of it goes into
our fellow Indians pocket. I would do that if I know who exactly is taking this
profit. But I don’t know who are all owning these companies. Just because it’s
an Indian company, I don’t want to give my hard-earned money to someone who doesn’t
even care about his labour or my preferences. Aren’t we creating more poor
people by sending these pennies into rich pockets? You are okay if the whole
telecom industry was hammered by one operator by offering free data for years,
making it a habit for us and start charging like hell later. If this strategy
is wrong, no business can stand the competition.
Why are you so self-conscious.
don’t you care about the employment of our country?
Why are you in so denial, why wouldn’t I buy things made
in India, if I am getting all the features offered in the same budget range?
Don’t you think
there is something fishy? A product which you get at a price round 20
thousands here, you are getting it at 15 thousand from somewhere else. Why can’t
you think in that way?
First of all, we don’t know the dynamics of the
manufacturing and selling of a product. At least I don’t know. Because we don’t
know the policy of a company whether it is selling products cheaper because of
its economical strategies or by compromising in the quality of segments which
aren’t needed. For that reason, as a consumer, I will choose whatever benefits me
as an individual but not as a society.
That’s where we
get deceived. Whatever the product they manufacture or the gadget they launch will
have some detrimental component to our society either
directly in terms of security or indirectly in terms of health/lifestyle.
If that’s the case, isn’t it the government’s duty to
stop allowing those products to be launched in the country, instead of questioning
the intellect and preferences of the consumers. And about the security thing,
are you sure that only these mobile phones collect all of our data. Even if they
collect, what kind of data it can steal unless I give permission to my storage,
contacts, location etc. Is it okay if Googul makes a fortune off selling our
location data to some Real estate companies so that they can plan on
constructing malls or restaurants where the youth hangs out in the weekends? Or
is it okay if YouToob analyzes our video content preferences and makes money by selling
ads on channels targeted on specific consumers? Is the privacy/security our
genuine concern or are we just angry with someone who is capitalizing our attitude
of consuming free content and budget-priced goods?
The guy: So you
put yourself first but not the country.
Me: No. I put myself first because I am a part of the
country.
Shop Keeper: Sir. The Redme stock is
expected to arrive on Monday. Can you wait?
Me: Ohh. Sorry I can’t. I need it right now. Okay, get
me that Motobola phone.
Shop Keeper: What about you sir?
The Guy: It’s
okay. I’ll come on Monday.
